This is the first commercial recording of the Symphony No. 6. Recorded 1950 / Henry Swoboda and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
The recording was done by Westminster where Henry Swoboda was a co-founder and co-owner. Technically this early Westminster recordings where superior and the label became popular among the growing community of audiophiles. Early Nixa releases was pressed by the Decca pressing plant. Nixa was the second company, after Decca, to release LP records in Britain (at the time, EMI was attempting to promote 45 rpm records over 33 LP records). The record label, which traded as Nixa Records, was acquired by Pye Records in 1953. This recording was released somewhere between 1950 and 1953.
