Excruciatingly rare and highly desirable slab of west coast garagy rock rooted in the San Francisco sound. Taking their name from Genesis 49:10, this 4-guy, 2-gal outreach of the Idaho Jesus People Army had an edgy homemade sound that’s been likened to a more laid-back Jefferson Airplane, with spacey female vocals over an electric backdrop of psychy basement guitar. The unusual song composition didn’t hit me over the head at first, but multiple listenings revealed the layers of interesting guitar work going on in the background. ‘New Jerusalem’ has some nice slow dreamy charm at work while ‘Marriage Supper Of The Lamb’ and ‘Great Day Of The Lord’ both approach seven minutes in length, allowing the guitarist opportunity to try out some tremoloed Quicksilver flourishes. Closes with ‘Call To Brokeness’, a beautiful piece of ethereal femme folk psych. Black and white cover features a pencil drawing of the face of Christ overtop a photo montage of the multitudes. A couple members went on to form the band Living Sacrifice, re-interpreting a few of these songs over the course of their three albums. Be aware that some copies without sleeves were obtained from the band a few years ago – these are now being circulated with reproduced covers. (Ken Scott - Archivist)

This is not a review, but a question about the Anazitisi pressing. I just received my copy of this yesterday in the mail from a place in Germany. What I am wondering is how do I know if I have an Anazitisi pressing as there is no markings to indicate that label at all on mine. I have never bought a LP on the Anazitisi label before, so... It was certainly not in a "sticker sealed PVC sleeve". It is 180 gram and has good sound....can anyone tell me, please? Or did I just buy a bootleg.

Affiliated with the Jesus People Army group from Sandpoint, Idaho, The Last Call of Shiloh were part of a huge revival movement that advocated a return to the original teachings of Christ. Termed, "Jesus Freaks," basically they were Christian hippies. "Shiloh," they say on the LP jacket, is another name for Jesus. Creating their own, "Last Call" label, they were among the earliest contributors to Jesus Music. The whole of side 2 of the record is fantastic west coast psych, albeit with a Christian edge - which may turn off the pagans amongst us, or maybe not, since the music is of such stellar quality that one may think they are listening to some unreleased QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE or maybe even some JEFFERSON AIRPLANE. The song, "New Jerusalem," "borrows" the intro to the BEATLES "Dear Prudence." The last song on the LP, "Brokenness," is far and away the most ethereal, dual-female vocal, Christian acid-folk song on the planet, complete with shimmering reverb slide guitar in a way that takes your breath away. In fact, side 2 of this album is one of the top 10, west coast psych masterpieces of all time. To my ears, if side 1 matched the intensity of side 2, this LP would rank right up there with the MUSIC EMPORIUM, or J.A's "Surrealistic Pillow" or any other west coast psych album we could name. Curiously, later the band moves to New Jersey? and turns into the LIVING SACRIFICE band
