To many people this track is just proof of some rather commercial or if you will folksy things or traditions that came out of disco. But to me it was the big bang. The big bang of synthesizer sounds and the big bang of the feeling that sometimes... there's more than music, inside music. I was nine years old then, I be forgiven to fall for the words that Mr Bendt sang to me. Looking back now, listening to "Eldorado", I can hear why many years later I even once actually liked Blind Guardian, why even many more years later, in 1995 I became a trance addict. Eldorado already has the shaking "helicopter" as I use to call it, an uprising base element of many trance-seeking music styles. Find it again in Dead or Alive's "You spin me round like a record Baby", dare to find it even in Metal music, but surely find it in much about everything that came out of Roland's 303.This song does not deserve to be seen where we saw it in folksy german TV in our childhood, people clapping unsexy 1s and 3s instead of sexy 2s and 4s of disco feeling to it. It is very future usage of far later coming trends. It belongs with Human Leagues's "Being boiled" and with Visage's "Fade to grey". It is a true ancestor of Trance music and in a very special sense probably bears in it what trancers seek but can not find in house music and what house music fans mean when they say that trance is childish or uncool: It has a message. And to that, it is great great music. And it is very precious to me.
