That eerie seven-note motif from 'Come To Me' cropped up again, in the infamous barroom scene from the 2004 Belgian film 'Calvaire' (shudder).

This is probably my favourite Alex Reece record, forget Pulp Fiction, this 12" was made at a time when drum and bass was really cutting edge, there were no rules, and originality was key! "Playboys" mixes Rhodes (allbeit, ahem, borrowed from Bill Withers), Flutes, and Alex Reece's classic conga arrangements with a stomping break and an abstract, jazzy bassline, to give a distinctive, sophisticated and sexy vibe. "Come To Me" seems to be a bit of a jokey/filler track, but this is more than made up for by the gorgeous affair which is "Cool Summer Breeze"; a vivid mashup of flute, sax, twirling melodies, sexy vocal snippets, and congas, complimented by a precisely-edited, rolling breakbeat.
