This is interesting - the autographed copy in the photo above is hanging on my wall - I'd love to have the history of it and what is behind the comments - I'm fairly certain mine has 'thanks Linda' or 'for Linda' or similar on the rearDoes anyone know?

What does "RP" stand for on the second entry? These two pressings and sleeves are exactly the same - they just have slightly different labels glued on the records.
Falya
I believe "RP" means "repress." The original pressing does *NOT* have an address on the label and is far more rare.

Just to clear up a common miss understanding, the Eponymous version is the Mitch Easter mix. This version HT001 is the Johnny Hibbert mix.3.35. Only ever used on this single. The Band preferred the Mitch Easter mix. Johnny Hibbert owned the rights to the single so he pulled rank. The fact is REM would never use the JH mix again. The ME mix 3.46 appears on Eponymous and I Feel Fine, Best of IRS years,If you want to hear the difference, listen to this record HT001.
Aloo
The version your referring to as the ME mix on murmer is a total re recording of RFE by ME and DD. JH mix is on HT001 .never to be released again.
Nettale
Mitch Easter mix is on the murmur lp, single, singles collected etc.Johnny Hibbert mixes appear on best of irs years I feel fine and eponymous. sitting still hibbert mix also features on best of irs years I feel fine.the 7inch single here is the only pressing with the orginal 'muddy' mastering. the actual mixes are reproduced on the eponymous and I feel fine compilations. I have compared original vinyl to the remasters, only difference is the new mixes are clearer but that is because they are not pressed on vinyl/different compression.
Tane
Everything I have read on the issues is first pressing was 600 copies and the 2nd pressing was 6000.
Tekasa
This entry should be split into 2 different entry's, as they are two totally different singles with one song in common. But the versions of "Radio Free Europe" are totally different recordings. The B-side of the the I.R.S. single is NOT "Sitting Still" but "There She Goes Again".
Orevise
You're right about the two pressings, but 7000 each press? surely 1000 of each would be a more realistic number for a band financing their own pressings?
Dranar
Yes, you're almost right, my memory failed me. 7.000 copies in total. 1st pressing: 1.000 copies (600 went off for promo). 2nd pressing: 6.000 copies ("I think we ran six or seven thousand singles altogether", in the words of J. Hibbert, who ran the Hib-tone label, from the book "REM/TALK ABOUT THE PASSION/AN ORAL HISTORY"). Thank you for helping me to correct my entry.
Brightfury
I don't think the information given in the notes above is correct. There are two - almost simoultaneous - pressings (7.000 copies each). The only difference is that the labels on the second pressing have Hibtone label's address. On the first pressing they don't.
