Released between the albums Velvet Darkness they Fear and Aégis, A Rose for the Dead presents two new songs, a new english version of Der Tanz der Schatten, two remixes and a cover of cult post-punk band Joy Division. Although the new songs remain quite faithful to the musical direction of Velvet Darkness, this EP gives hints of the future of the band. The atmospheric cover of Decades sung entirely with clear male voice is a preview of the gothic atmospheric rock of the following album, Aégis, while the remixes and the few electronic sounds of Der Spiegel unveil the taste of the band for electronic music that they will satisfy with future albums Musique and Assembly.
