This for me is the jewel in an otherwise typical neuro funk sound they churn out which although they helped pioneer in the first instance and deserve full credit for, they rarely deviate from the path which for me is a little underwhelming. Releases like this show its clear they are capable of much diversity. The same happened with June Miller imo as there new stuff is soulless by comparison to what got them noticed in the first place.

The Bells Of is quite simply one of the moodiest pieces of Drum & Bass out there. It has that Noisia aura to it with familiar drums and a signature bassline, but those bells are something completely different. This track certainly isn't 'calm and minimal', it's fuckin scary to put it bluntly. There's no tune out there that's been produced like this, it's like something lifted out of a horror film flipped into a killer techstep monster...I'd dare any DJ to let the breakdown run through. Maybe not one for the club but this is definitely a big release from Metalheadz, Noisia at the peak of their game before they jumped on the Stilton bandwagon. 9/10

All in all, a great record from Noisia. It's good to see the group experimenting with different styles. It's also great to see that Metalheadz apears to be returning to it's former greatness. This record seems to be similar in style to METH 077, Data's equaly interesting release. They both aim for a very calm and minimal sound. A sound I haven't heard many DnB artists experiment with untill now. I hope to see more. Long live Metalheadz!
