Shpongle - Museum Of Consciousness FLAC download

Not the best quality pressing. The sound is excellent but as others have reported, both records had a slight edge warp brand new out of the shrink. Fortunately it doesn't affect play but it's irritating. A lot of pops even after thorough cleaning, very frustrating a brand new record has so many problems.

My sealed copy came with 2 disc 1's, and no disc 2.

Okay, I'm trying to be as open minded as neutral as possible by saying this, but, I just don't like this album very much when compared to Shpongle's other releases. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it doesn't have that "wow" factor that some of their other work has. This album has some hard work put into it and does show how they have grown as a band, but on a collective whole, it just feels more toned down in a psychedelic sense then say "Nothing Lasts, Nothing is Lost" and is aimed to appeal to the masses as they have become one of the biggest names in the 'psybient/dub' scene. And I've tried listening to it both sober and in an expanded mind set, but I just can't force myself to say that it is a phenomenal album that is a must to listen to. It's just sort of mediocre and lacks the technical prowess of their earlier work and even other artists out there. But I am a fan of Shpongle and not saying this in a mean way or bashing them, as I own every album and almost every piece of merchandise available that they have put out. I'm just hoping that their next album is a step above this.

Once again, Shpongle has done it. Another great album. I think one is better than the last, but nothing wrong with that one either. It's interesting that Simon is credited with drums. Seeing them live at Red Rocks last year was amazing, but one reason Joe Russo on drums. Shpongle live is amazing. They must find a way to play more.

WOW! This album definitely blew my mind. Shpongle seems to have matured musically in a way. Each track is its own album and seems to be completely able to stand on its own. I really feel like they departed their past production and musical style and went for something new, and IT WORKED!!! The first 3:15 minutes of "The Epiphany of Mrs. Kulga" sounds like a cinematic score. Like something you'd hear in a soundtrack for a Hollywood film. While the rest of the track is brilliantly produced with the Psy-Trance/Psybient fans and following they have earned since the release of "Are you Shpongled?" 15 years ago.My favorite track though out of this album is definitely "Further Adventures in Shpongleland" with "Juggling Molecules" coming in a close second. I'm a Shpongle fan in NYC, a part of the U.S. they rarely come. Perhaps it's because NYC's Psy-Trance scene has died a while ago, But it seems like a promoter needs to show these young kids coming into the scene, a side of this scene that is filled with creativity and extremely good music. But to be honest, this album, with only 7 tracks, did leave me wanting just a bit more. I guess they did make up for it with 2 10+ minutes tracks. But I really wish they would've taken us on 2 or 3 more rides for fun. :)

I have four different vinyl pressings of this fantastic record two of the 3D version and two normal version and also the CD. All my vinyl versions sound great and clear. I think "TheWhiteRabbit7" had bad luck in buying his record.

...and I don't understand that you don't understand that's the way it 's allways is: Musicians get settled in trying to record good music. That's the same with shpongle who keep on trying to produce easy listening psychedelic stuff, as they allways did but on a higher niveau. Like it or leave it! I like shpongles modern sound more than for example infected mushroom.

I'm not impressed with the quality of this pressing. The higher I turn the volume up the more certain parts of songs start to break up and crackle. In comparison, my copy of "Tales of the Inexpressible" that was pressed over a decade ago sounds absolutely flawless. Also, the records were warped. Maybe they used a poor pressing house. Maybe I got a bad copy. Just beware buyer if you're looking for the best version of this album.

I ordered one from amazon and got a warped vinyl. I had them replace it and it was warped exactly the same way. Beware.

i listen shpongle from the begining, and i need to tell you, that this album is a masterpiece of psybient music,yes, maybe is not the strongest release by shpongle, but is awesome since the first tune you will start a journey in to the jungle of ethnic & psychadelic sounds.I dont understand why the most people dont like this álbum, for me is a cool experience, listen this all album in a row,has the roots of he's predecessors but with a lot of new sounds and emotions.if you have the time,listen this álbum, relax yourself and this way you can understand, what I talking about.highly recomended 10/

Some are suggesting that with "Museum of Consciousness" Simon Posford has run out of new ideas and is merely plundering his back catalogue, his museum, and that this is an extinct dinosaur of a work. There may be something in this, but I can't really agree. I just see this as a unique Shpongle album with its own atmosphere and flavour, just like the other Shpongle albums were singular in their own ways. For me "Are you Shpongled?" (for sure the best Shpongle album) is deep, dark, spacey dub, the far outer space partner to the Infinity Project's mindblowing "Mystical Experiences". "Tales of the Inexpressible" was considerably lighter and more varied with strong "World music" influences. Nice. "Nothing Lasts...But Nothing is Lost" went into the Ayahuasca jungle and created a shimmering web of maximalist complexity. "Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland" was more stripped down and experimental, with more contributions from acoustic and other musicians and some Indian influences, but also with touches of electro and dubstep. "Museum of Consciousness" is different again. For me this album is very coherent and flowing and more dancefloor-orientated than any of the others. There is still life in these dusty bones. A solid and infectious progressive/psytrance beat underpins most everything here and the emphasis is on just getting down and boogeying. A different planet from "Are You Shpongled?" but enjoyable nevertheless. The cover on the vinyl is a trip in itself without even playing the record. Please, Simon, continue producing this great music and in the best format for both sound and image: VINYL! ~*~

Be in no doubt, this is a superb Shpongle release - more than worthy of its place in their wondrous body of work. Each of their albums has been different to the others; all have had their own take on that Shpongle sound - this one is a bit darker and trippier, but fantastically beautiful and bright in places, and it all flows really well. I didn't quite connect with it on the first 2 listens, but on the 3rd listen the magic got me, and in a big way - I haven't been able to stop listening to it ever since.The vinyl version looks and sounds amazing - the lenticular cover is great (works much better than on the CD version) and the sound quality is top notch - the production quality is really noticeable, revealing many little nuances that you just don't get in the same way with the digital or CD formats. In other words, well worth investing in.

This is the weakest Shpongle album but still listenable. Seems Simon is running out of ideas. Every track sounds like you've heard it many times before. Nothing more to say. No surprises here. Shpongle took the "safe" path.

why is track 3 and 4 switched between the vinyl and cd? just because? lol

The Aquatic Garden Of Extra-Celestial Delights is long enough to take up a major part of one side, so they didn't want to have to compress Juggling Molecules and reduce the quality by forcing all on just side B. It's just a vinyl pressing concern, though I wonder if Raja and Simon intended the album to "flow" a certain way with the CD version and couldn't maintain it on the vinyl.

So I looked at Simon's Facebook page and this is what I could gleam:He directly says 1500 or 2000 were pressed, and then later when the vinyl are being shipped out, he thanks "nearly 2,000" people who purchased it, which leaves me to believe the final pressing was 2,000 units.

That includes CDs and downloads, surely.

I'm pretty sure only 3000

Anyone catch wind of how many of the vinyl were pressed?

Initially they said on the twisted website they would press 1000, they must have received plenty of pre-orders if they have pressed 2000, as phor mentions they may have.

On his facebook page, Simon mentioned the vinyl release is limited to 2000 and the CD release is limited to 2500.
