I think Raymond Scott is the first electronic composer.... https://www.mixcloud.com/Quazatron/quazatron-raymond-scott-constructing-the-electronic-father/

An amazing repress. Excellent job on the remastering by Waveshaper Media. Extremely detailed, extremely dynamic spatial recording with a humongous soundstage. Great stereo separation with sounds coming at you from all directions. Never compressed or distorted sounding, very crisp high frequency response and wholesome midrange. Damn this is an entertaining listen! Really happy to have such a clean copy of this. The electronics also have nice warmth and saturation to them, not a hint of any digital coldness or thinness, very full sound. The pressing quality is also tops. The background is super silent so the quiet parts on the record are not obstructed. Very flat and centered. 10/10. One of the most engaging/unique listening experiences I've ever had.

Interesting stuff. Can't believe it's from 1967... Sounds futuristic even today

On wikipedia it says he was the first composer with electronic music that was commissioned by a record company. Really? Look at: Kid Baltan - Electronic Music

If one wants to split hairs and be fairly technical, then yes. Really. While Kid Baltan did amazing work, it wasn't fully electronic. Specifically, he made more use of tape machines than he did tone generators. And that isn't really electronic per se. It's very clever, even for now. But, it's not strictly electronic. Otherwise, we'd have to cite the Fantasia soundtrack as being an electronic recording as it was recorded onto a custom multi-channel tape system. Similarly, we could look back even farther than that, to Theremin and Telharmonium performances. And they'd still not be expressly electronic works.
Windforge
I believe the point they were trying to make was that is was "commissioned." While Electronic music was around well before this point with many people producing it for its artistic merit, this was the first time a major company had actively sought out someone to produce an album.

Electronic music comes well before Kid Baltan

i found this jewel for .50 at a yard sale~mint condtion.Very worth the time.i can see a direct link between this Lp and many modern day electronic attempts of atmosphere. But still this one rivals and i am quite moved.Worth the collection alone for the lovely cover art.

And the Grateful Dead covered Silver Apples of the Moon

This recording proved influential to not just electronic music but also psych and experimental rock. The famed Silver Apples named themselves after this record. Not one of Subotnick's best but certainly his best selling album
