Coirad
The Verdant Acre series begins with an ominous and empty tone similar to Wolfgang Voigt's Gas releases. Though slightly less organic sounding, Coppice Halifax still manages to capture the similar distant and dreary feeling that Gas did with dark, brooding and mysterious drones backed by simplified, intentionally monotonous percussion. If the music doesn't pay enough homage to Gas, then perhaps the forest-like imagery of the artwork does. Either way, this is worth checking out especially since it doesn't merely copy the established sound but takes it into a slightly more active level at points with drum loops somewhat reminiscent of early Porter Ricks.
