Whoever said that trip-hop is dead hasn’t heard Cinerex’s newest CX yet. There’s still plenty of life left in the genre, and Cinerex is sustenance to keep it thriving. Of course, there’s nothing particularly astounding about the album –- the tracks are well-crafted and move smoothly. But it’s a worthy addition to your trip-hop collection. “Heavenly” is just that; “Ciao” makes you want to say hello all over again. The stop-start instruments of “First Comes Second Comes Last Comes First” make it rhythmically fascinating, but “Simple Song,” however, is not as interesting. A mixed bag, to be sure, but of good quality overall.
