Ballazan
Dwele is nothing short of ambitious in his albums. This neo soul singer from Detroit has been collaborating everywhere for quite a while, has had some commercial ambitions. and has developed a unique style that is kind of Stevie Wonder (well, what neo soul singer isn't?) with brisk chord changes, tense rhythm composition that sounds like it is in the verge of losing itself and nearly enya-like vocal overlaps. I think that in "Sketches of a Man" it is the first time he lets himself loose, going through different styles, describing his love for so many different kind of ladies, sometimes declaring a love so wild that he feels like he is cheating, going through all the 70s nods with a rhodes feast and a kind of laidback songwriting that only sounds mainstream a couple of times.I love this guy. Few times you will hear a break as beautiful as the one in "Free as a bird". It's the same ultra male ultra heterosexual world that it sould feel so far away from myself and my life experiences, but I believe Dwele declares his love to music and music making in just every note. I believe you will notice it too.
