Out of the debris of the Tourists came the Eurythmics. Positioned somewhere between psychedelica and synthpop, Dave and Annie put themselves into the hands of krautrock god Conny Plank. Along with various members of Can, and Clem Burke from Blondie... In the Garden remains glam, avant-garde and still relevant today."English Summer" opens the set up with the sounds of summer and a passing siren with a crisp vocal. "Never Gonna Cry Again" is a synth-anthem tilting between defience and despair. "She's Invisible Now" is a beautiful brittle ode to the immediacy of the moment. "Take Me To Your Heart" is an urgent electro love song that should have been a single. "Sing-Sing" is sung in French by Annie about going places with friends, a bit batty but brilliant!Rolling Stone once called this album a mini-masterpiece. A very apt description.
