Notes
Marc Cohn, live from Lake Harriet Bandshell, Minneapolis on September 13th 1991When Marc Cohn recently recalled this early-career gig at Minneapolis’ Lake Harriet Bandshell, he confessed that he’d massively underestimated the impact of his song »Walking In Memphis« when seeing a packed-out gig. When figures such as Carly Simon, Tracy Chapman and David Crosby (who placed Cohn in the top half-dozen talents in the world), are talking about you, things are generally going to be okay. The following year, he took home the Grammy for »Best New Artist«, while also being nominated for »Song of the Year« and »Best Pop Vocal« with Walking in Memphis.
The set list was largely built on his then new album, the 1991 debut that harkened back to the more sophisticated rock and pop inflections of singer-songwriters from two decades before. The songs and the voice have travelled well over 25 years and spells the legacy of Marc Cohn. Professionally re-mastered original KTCZ 97.1 FM broadcast with expansive liners, interviews and rare archival images.
