HiI am having real problems with this box set. I am a trader and buy a few copes at a time of the 4 different versions. The problem I am having is customers are returning them as "fakes" I am using the same suppliers as I have always used, no problems with the first couple of batches. I don't understand what is going on. Is it just that buyers have lost confidence in the genuinuity of the box set, or should I stop selling these altogether??????Babs

There is also a horrible adhesive smell inside the box. If you take the discs out and your still not convinced, give the inside of the box a whiff and if it smells like cheap glue, you got a fake. You can't miss it because it will reek up the whole set.

However, the market is flooded with illegal, counterfeit, made-in-China copies of this box and I can tell you exactly how to spot them. I unwittingly purchased a pirated, counterfeit, made-in-China copy of this box from the amazon marketplace, so I am able to provide all the info you'll need to spot these illegal, pirated copies.If you have unglued seams, off-kilter CD sleeves, very dark photos and fuzzy type in the booklet, then you have a counterfeit box! I am pretty sure all of the negative reviews based on the poor quality of the packaging and printing were written by people who don't realize they have a counterfeit box. Based on these reviews, I thought at first that all of the above flaws were normal and didn't suspect that I had a counterfeit box until I discovered a flaw in a disc that made one of the tracks unplayable. And then there was another flaw on another disc. So I did some online research and learned about the 100-percent, fool-proof way to spot a counterfeit box.So, if you're still not sure after checking for all of the low-quality production flaws mentioned above, take a look at the back (silver side) of one of the discs. If it's an authorized (legal) US edition, it should have the letters DIDX somewhere along the inner rim (near the hole). The official (legal) EU edition should have the Universal logo printed four times around the inner rim. If you don't see either of these, the final test would be to check for the code that indicates the country of origin. For some reason, this is impossible to forge. You'll need a magnifying glass to see it, but there will be something called an IFPI code somewhere on the inner rim on the back of each CD. If your disc has an IFPI code in the B400's (i.e. B411, B412, B413, etc.), it is indisputably a made-in-China, illegal, counterfeit edition. The IFPI numbers on my counterfeit discs were stamped next to a fancy looking, swirly thing that turned out to be the letters IFPI (in a swirly, lower-case font) when I looked at them through a magnifying glass.Once I discovered I had a counterfeit box, I contacted the seller and he refunded my money after I shipped the box back to him. He thanked me for the information I provided about the box being counterfeit, and then he re-listed it for sale on the amazon marketplace (seller name: greendreams). So... beware of the marketplace!I received my official US version of the box yesterday (ordered directly from amazon) and can confirm that there are no off-kilter sleeves, no unglued seams, no fuzzy type in the booklet, and no very dark photos on the sleeves. There is also a card glued to the back of the box with small photos of each of the album covers and some promotional text (the Chinese counterfeit version didn't have a card). That said, it is also true that the photos are still a little dark and there are no inner sleeves with any of the discs (the Chinese version had very flimsy, light-weight plastic sleeves). Abkco is still a clueless, cheapo company, so the box is lacking in some of the details that could have made it better. I would have liked some details about the recordings (dates, names of guest musicians, etc.) and even just a brief, sketchy discography would have been nice. Instead, all you get in the booklet is a moderately-interesting essay and some photos (with no captions). But the sound is great (even the counterfeit copy sounded good when it wasn't skipping) and the music is top-notch, so it's definitely worth owning a legal version of this box.And, finally, there is only one Stray Cats disc. The design makes it look like there should be two, but all of the songs are on one long (70-minute) CD. So don't think you were cheated if you don't get two Stray Cats CDs!
