This is a 2nd generation orange label with tan/beige Capitol on bottom -- the cover of this Canadian variant has the boxed 'Manufactured and Distributed in Canada by Capitol Records (Canada) Ltd.' at the bottom on the back. The cover is a paste-on slick on the back, and is missing the white Capitol border from the previous orange label variant. Since this comes from a sealed copy, I cannot be 100% sure it is an orange label, but since the purple labels that came after had a different catalog prefix (SW), I am fairly certain.

I have The Beatles Revolver PCS 7009. Stamper YEX-606-1 YEX.605-1. But also on dead wax is GO and RD. should that mean anything Important.

If you hold your LP so that the actual matrix numbers (YEX 605-1 & YEX 606-1) are in the "6 O'Clock" position (view it so the "YEX" matrix number is positioned at the bottom, dead center) you will find the "GO" and "RD" dead wax stamps in the "3 O'Clock" position... these letters indicate which stamper number your LP was pressed from.If you look closely, there is another mark in the dead wax that completes the info as to the production/pressing run for your LP; this is at the "9 O'Clock" position & will be a one or two digit number.. this number indicates the "mother" used to create the stamper your LP was pressed from.(LP production is: master tape cut to a master lacquer disc, the master lacquer disc is plated with metallic alloy which is then split off to produce the "metal master". The metal master is then plated with a similar metal alloy to produce the mother. Depending on the planned production run, they may repeat this step many times to produce multiple "mothers". The mothers are then plated to produce MANY LP stampers, which are what actually presses or "stamps" the vinyl "puck" into a finished LP)Anyway, EMI used the letters "GRAMOPHLTD" for identifying which stamper pressed a given LP. "G" is #1, "R" is #1.. on down to "D" which stands for "0" (not ten)SO-- in your case, your LP was pressed from stamper "GO" on one side which would be the 15th stamper. This is very low.(lower is desirable!) The "RD" side is from the 20th stamper.There is much debate about how many LPs were pressed from each stamper at EMI in the 1960s. The lowest figure quoted is 300, and the highest is 750. I believe that in 1960-61 it WAS only 300, especially for classical music LPs (the more LPs pressed per stamper, the worse the dynamics get and the higher the noise floor gets)But by the mid 1960s, plating and cutting techniques had advanced and I think the figure is more like 500-650 LPs per stamper.If your "mother numbers" are 1,2, 3 or 4... you have a very early pressing. In that case, congrats!Hope this helps; it goes for ALL EMI LPs.

I have a Danish pressing of Revolver that has mono on one side of the album and stereo on the other. I looked at all the known variations on discogs http://www.discogs.com/Beatles-Revolver/release/2431666and none has the combination of matrixes that mine has.side a is: xex 605 - 2side b is: yex 606 - 1Can anybody shed some light on this?I don't know how to post pictures on this forum but i posted pictures over here:http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/i-wonder-how-rare-my-revolver-misprint-is.338863/#post-9847153I've tried to add it to the database but it's simply too complicated for me. Hi KIm , I wonder whether you had any luck in finding out about your album with the different matrices . I too have copy of Revolver which is described as Stereo but has the XEX 605-3 matrix on the A side and YEX 606-4 on the B side . My husband is just about to play it to see if its Mono on one side and stereo on the other but I'd be grateful to hear whether yours is the same and whether it results in an increase in value !

Once again, I point to this very useful mine of info on Beatles vinyl - http://thebeatles-collection.com/wordpress/2011/07/16/revolver-parlophone-pmc-7009-2/ which tells you which version is which. My copy is apparently a stereo first pressing 'variation A' copy with the 'Dr Robert' sleeve and 'Dr Robert' label typo and the early 'Love You To (sic) mis spelling.It's a mind bending feild of info on the Beatles stuff and collectors it sems can be very anal about such things!!Again, its a great LP and mine sounds tip top. Incidentally I got mine from here for about twenty quid a few years ago.

There is a much rarer mono version [very] first pressing, hastily withdrawn, which had a different mix of "Tomorrow Never Knows" (known as "remix 11") this has a matrix number on side 2 of XEX 606-1.

That is not true Spirantho. -2 is on both sides of the Mono 2nd pressing. Mine is the older 2nd pressing with Dr. Robert not Doctor, and with taxman and Eleanor Rigby on one line on the label. Also has the garrod and lofthouse sleeve. Same cut as the - 1 meaning they are both tube presses. The description is correct. Either way my favorite record, are close. Sounds unbelievable. Nothing like the original tube cut mono uk press.

The YEX- matrices are for the STEREO version, not the MONO. It should be XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-1 for the original pressing. XEX 606-1 on side 2 is the valuable one, with Mix 11 of Tomorrow Never Knows, later suffices are less rare.

My copy, inherited from a relative, is slightly different from those listed, and I wonder if anyone can shed any light on it. It's Parlophone, PMC 7009, but the run-offs are Side 1. XEX 605-2 and Side 2. XEX 606-2 with HG also stamped.

This is a 2nd press mono version. The HG, stamped at the 3 o'clock position on side 2 simply means the record was pressed with the 71st stamper. you will notice a letter or combination of letters on side 1 too. Also there will be a number stamped in the 9 o’clock position, this will denote the mother used. In combination you can get an idea of how early/late in the pressing run your particular copy was made.
