One of my favorite go to LP's when i want to hear Deep Purple's classic MK 2 line-up.The tracks were picked from classic albums and they did choose very wisely. Each tune here is a classic still played live today. What i like most about 24 K gold is that they picked a bunch of the best live songs from Made In Japan. an album that can be hard to digest from start to finish today with all these extra long versions. Here they stick to the essentials : 'Strange Kind Of Woman' , "Smoke On The Water" and 'Child In Time'. The latter being slightly shorter than the original on In Rock. Add an unreleased Live take of 'Black Night' and you got some of the best Songs you can get from Deep Purple Live. In their prime . The best is that the Live stuff sits fine next to the studio tunes. Fireball and Speed King being my favorites here. all in all a good insight into Deep Purple's essential material. Plus the sound is good and pressing okay - hard to find nowadays but worth grabbing when you see it.
