One of my favorite records. Beautifully crafted, incredibly coherent, astonishingly good.

Pivotal Moments In Life is too perfect. I can't even begin to convey how much I love it. That bass at the end is just. Ridiculous. All the love for the whole record

Some people seem to think they are reviewers for Levon Vincent productions. Claiming some kind of strange ownership over his music.
Ganthisc
Christ, some of these reviews are totally ridiculous. There are 2 types of music in this world... Good & Bad... It's that simple.Brilliant record.
Rexfire
lol but that's a third type of music? you can't allow "brilliant"

People don't half talk some pretentious shit when they go off about Levon Vincent. Great producer, but ffs...

hortonjupiterPeople don't half talk some pretentious shit when they go off about Levon Vincent. Great producer, but ffs... Ah man, you have a point but - let people have their fun - music heads always love chatting about the tunes they love. Besides, discogs would be pretty limited if people just put 'great producer' under every entry.
Kajishakar
spot on
Skiletus
hahaha yeah, amazing producer but he's just a human being, no more, no less.

With over a year of hindsight in tow with "Impressions," I'd like to say that I believe this may be Levon's best, most cohesive, and "polished" EP of all of them. Although each of his NS releases seem to introduce another chapter in the greater "novel" of Levon's musical struggle, this one feels particularly personal, lacking the floor-oriented drive of "Stereo System," "Six Figures," and "Man or Mistress," or the vague emotional turbulence present in "Making Headway," "DJSF," and "Medium." This is a record that focuses on bigger ideas and dreams--music that appeals to one's deeper sense of humanity, if I may. Honestly, I'm always at a loss for words when trying to describe or overthink it. It's just one of the most finely crafted pieces of electronic music ever. Bottom line.

I think Impressions is Levon's best track so far

A solid 12" with 3 great tracks all varying in style with the peak timer on the main side and 2 deep as you like nuggets of deepness on the B-side. Superb release.

Well, I guess I'll just join in and kiss Mr. Vincent's ass a little too.... One of the best producers of techno and house music around. He has the magic touch right now and has for a bit, a really unique and diverse sound and always keeps it raw and underground which means a lot to some of us. I think this is my favorite release by him which says a lot in the company it keeps--always solid, nasty EPs. One observation I'll add about Levon's productions is that he's extremely patient and demands as much from the DJ playing his records or the listener. That's a good thing in my opinion. Also, his tracks generally offer more substance than many of his contemporary track-makers--a lot of his tunes consist of two or three little movements or sections instead of just a loop of a couple elements like we've come to expect from "tracks." He often insists on building and arranging his music like a song--with a (sometimes lengthy) beginning, middle and end (which sometimes comes as a pleasant surprise as in "Pivotal Moments-"). This kind of bold individual style stands out and says something I can respect. Not that there's anything wrong with "tracks..." Also, Somehow Levon Vincent's persona really seems to come through in his records. There is an intimacy to his music that's striking. Whether it's a big banger like "Impressions-" or an emotional deep tune like "Pivotal Moments-" they always feel special and made with love.

Great review. I always had the impression that Levon was an artist first, and a dj/producer second. It definitely comes through in his works. I never got the sense that it was about money or anything less than the immediate need to create and inspire.

All of Levon´s tracks are the tits. No need to review them as they are made with great tender and steady hands. BUT..Track Revs/Cost is one i just gotta give a shout out to. Is just a-class brilliant tidal wave of a track. I got swept away and totally got lost in it. Excellent to take your set down with but still keep it tense. No kickdrum, just the snare and hats to bring you along with dub-techno`ish pads and sinister bassline with a siren on top, Wowness!!weeks later i´m still in the ocean floating on this..
Vojar
Great release from Levon. This record is the sounds of a man at the top of his game with no signs of slowing down.

Karenn is Blawan + Pariah

Levon is in his prime agreed 100%. The only person going into 2012 that is comparable is Blawan and Blawan's alias Karenn. Its like a contest to see who's got the sickest kick drums. Levon if you're reading this, Blawan got ahold of your blue-print on the "death stomp" :0) :0)

While the other reviewers have mentioned Revs/Cost and Impression of a Rainstorm, which both are stunning tracks (especially the title track is a great club track!), the true highlight for me on this release is the B2: Pivotal Moments in Life. A great deep house track with a techno feel which wanders into the deep with a great melody. Beautiful arrangement too, and just when you think it's over, a nice groove pops up. Great music, thanks Levon!

Revs/Cost makes reference to two graffiti artists from NYC, "Revlon" and Adam Cost. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revs_(graffiti_artist) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Cost They painted the sides of very public buildings and prided themselves on dangerous art. Adam Cost was best known for his 90's "Cost Fucked Madonna" sticker campaign in which he tried to put a "Cost Fucked Madonna" sticker on every Walk/Do Not Walk sign in Manhattan and apparently succeeded in his mission. From what I understand, he did not actually fuck Madonna.

In Vonnegut style: Levon Vincent is a producing /dj'ing machine.Impression Of A Rainstorm is another excellent release in a series of excellent releases. Revs/Cost even uses a horn sample (saxophone?), and it's done very tastefully. The hats are great. Levon always has great hats.
