Impeccably well composed and sung album by Peter Murphy. A deeply enriched recording utilizing electronics and middle eastern instrumentation esp string and percussion.Nothing like his early albums except the fact that PM is one of the few musicians who can transition from one style of pop music into another like a snake. All the musicianship on this album is of highest caliber and the mood of the recording will suck you into its aural beauty. I cannot believe I missed out in this one years ago!

This album just blows me away.If you enjoy Middle Eastern flavoured sounds coupled with the very rich baritone vocals of Peter Murphy, then this album is definitely for you. A don't miss.Be prepared to enter upon a mystical journey with Peter Murphy and his fellow musicians while listening to this release. You can almost smell the hookah pipe's heady incense and taste the heaping dishes of dried fruits placed before you while reclining upon Persian rugs and pillows beneath a nomadic trader's desert tent.Do enjoy!august242

I'm not a Peter Murphy fan. 'Dust' is one of two Peter Murphy CDs I still own. I'm only casually acquainted with, but impressed by his earlier work with Bauhaus. His album 'Deep' was a high bar: Dark, innovative, passionate... It had substantial presence. Since "Deep" I've been disappointed with the few other Peter Murphy CDs I've ventured to purchased. 'Cascade' in particular was a let-down. I was unaware of 'Dust' until the Turkish artist Mercan Dede and his host label Doublemoon caught my attention. I noted with interest that Mercan Dede had produced this Peter Murphy album. The collaboration works brilliantly. The vocal, lyrical, and instrumental performances are well matched. The album has presence and passion similar to 'Deep': Equally strong, true to his "Gothic" roots, but with a air of eastern mythology lent by the instrumentation. I draw favorable comparisons to Peter Gabriel's 'Passion', and Dead Can Dance. After a long lull in my search for music that really impresses me as unique and creative, this CD is a wonderful discovery for me.
