To each their own - but this is a great album for someone who wants to wet their toes in the pool of New Order. The album is far from definitive - but it's not a bad attempt at a New Order compilation. What makes this compilation special is that it doesn't just highlight the synth-pop artistry of the band, but also tries to introduce the listener to the more rock-infused side of the band that flows in the vein of Depeche Mode with songs like "Regret" and "Touched by Hand of God."

People find out about artists in different ways. One way is to hear a massively popular song and then attempt to find more music that is related. I found out about New Order by means of "Blue Monday," as I'm sure many of you know them by the same way. So how is this CD? It's a "best of" type of album, but it's not bad. It's not especially great either. "Ceremony" starts the music off and it's your average alternative rock. Not bad. "Blue Monday." Speaks for itself. "The Perfect Kiss" is also pretty good, but it's not the extended version, which I like better. This one is missing one whole verse of the song. "Shellshock" is also pretty good. "Bizarre Love Triangle" has got to be one of my favorite songs ever, and the extended dance mix is just icing on the cake. A really nice bit of upbeat 80s synthpop dance. "True Faith" is also good, with that distinctive 80s sound. The next couple of songs are a bit boring because they go more into the alternative rock sound, and New Order does synthpop the best. Therefore, the last song, "Here To Stay" is pretty decent because the band goes back to its synthpop roots. If you like New Order, get this CD, but be forewarned that not all of this stuff is synthpop. There are some mediocre alternative trakcs in here. However, I do recommend the individual songs "Blue Monday," "The Perfect Kiss," "Bizarre Love Triangle," and " True Faith," because it's these songs that make up the meat of the CD.
