More house-ethno-anthropology, this time from France's P18. ELECTROPICA is solidly rooted in Latin America (listen to the horn section on "Latin Funk Overseas" and "Salam"), but they also make some excursions elsewhere. Nigeria is the destination on the jazzy "Chango De" and the Yoruban-tinged "Yemaya Asesu." The jazz flows all over the album as well, but, really, it's nothing you haven't heard before. The album, as well-produced as it is, seems perfunctory. You know the story: it's pretty, you can dance to it, etc. Next.
