Notes

Budget-priced issue of the tracks included on disc 1 of the 2-disc set originally issued in 1976, with completely new artwork.
One of the first Beatles-related releases to be re-issued for EMI's budget line.

The mixes used on this version is the same as on the US release, using George Martin's alterations.

An interesting album but for technical reasons only:- The Rock & Roll Music project was insigated by Capitol in 1976 (just after the Beatles EMI contract had ended. George Martin was asked to approve the master tapes and quote he was "troubled" by the basic sound and he did a remix and centered many of the vocal tracks. This project included the first actual stereo mixing of the 4 Long Tall Sally EP tracks and the first apperance in stereo of I'm Down. The USA Capitol double album and the later USA budget albums Vols 1 and 2 had these remixed tracks AND the stereo channels reversed, (put headphones on the other way). The UK Parlophone double album did NOT have the remixes or the stereo channels reversed. It carried the original stereo mixes that Martin had made over the years, and of course the 5 new ones. This MFP budget re-release of Record 1 infact carries those USA Capitol remixes and the reversed stereo image, to confirm this the matrix carries the Capitol No. SKBO 11537 enjoy the remixes and reverse stereo
