Tracks 1-12 are not of soundboard quality and consist of audience recordings (the quality is passable) of two different shows:1) Tracks 1-10 were recorded at The Southend On Sea Technical College on November 14th, 1980.2) Tracks #11, 12 (Tomorrow's Dance, Reason Man) are sourced from an earlier show at the Bridgehouse, London, on October 30th, 1980.3) Tracks 13-18 are indeed of soundboard quality and taken from the recording of half of the concert at the Paradiso, Amsterdam on September 26th, 1981 (not June 29th as stated in the CD) The half of the show was recorded and broadcasted by VPRO Radio. I Sometimes Wish I Was Dead is quite different from future live versions. Many other songs also have different drums or synths, so this short recording is worth a listen if you haven't heard it yet. This recording is currently the only source for the track Addiction, sometimes referred to as "Closer", "Closer All The Time", or "Ghost Of Modern Time". This concert:- is the 16th concert with Dave Gahan in the band, - is the 8th concert under the name "Depeche Mode"- is the 1st performance of Just Can't Get Enough, with a different intro and melody. In fact, I Sometimes Wish I was dead is one of the songs from the Paradiso show, instead of the misprinted No Disco on sleeve. The six songs from Paradiso a real treasure with crystal soundboard quality. The takes from the Southend on Sea Technical College and Bridgehouse are in rather poor quality, but the rare versions of the unreleased Reason Man, Tomorrows Dance, Televison Set and in particular Addiction makes this all together one of the most important (and rare) DM objects.
