This is the electronic and dance album that defines the 2000's. I can say that every dance track or album that came after this was inspired by this album. I love it!

I can say without qualification that this will go down as my favorite album of the decade. It's strikingly brilliant through and through, start to finish. Mylo will get your ass out of your seat and dancing, and if you're not the dancing type, you'll wiggle in your chair a bit and sway to the music. This is everything that electro should be -- pumping, danceable and catchy. "Guilty Of Love" is the standout track to my ears, and sadly it has thusfar failed to get as much attention as some of the others. The Popular Computer remix of "In My Arms" is the other standout in this album of standouts.

About a two-and-a-half-year wait for this to finally see a U.S. release; for me, though, it was worth the wait. Mylo really came out of nowhere to move dancefloors all over the world with a CD that is chock full of hits. I cannot for the life of me get "Sunworshipper", "Musclecars", and especially "Guilty Of Love" out of my head - even if I was lobotomized. Some of the sounds he uses may be repetitive; but remember, this was made on a G4 with probably only a few software programs. If Mylo's a millionaire, or at least if he has some cash to spend, hw can buy more gear to create more effects and avoid recycling for the sophomore disc. That's just a minor quibble to me. Very unexpected first impression from this Scot. See? Even YOU can make a good record if you try hard.

Although some have noted that track 8 samples Negativland's "Michael Jackson" from their classic "Escape From Noise", the sample source is actually the same for both songs: an obscure record featuring the infamous cult Church Universal & Triumphant - now also known as "The Summit Lighthouse".On the record (found elsewhere on Discogs), their leader Elizabeth Clare Prophet, and other church leaders, lead worshippers through rapidly repeated prayers, or "decrees", that the entire church says in unison - something along the lines of having a large room full of auction callers rapidly reciting the same passage. The "Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, etc" portion of the recitation is a condemnation of rock-n-roll read by a church leader, and is the only one of the recorded "decrees" that is actually understandable.Ultimately, a brilliant use of this sample - arguably better than Negativland's use of it.

DESTROY ROCK & ROLL, the debut album from Mylo, doesn’t really want to destroy anything. It seems to want to let some sunshine in, and right from the singsong opener, “Valley of the Dolls,” it succeeds brilliantly. “Sunworshipper” is a cruise down Pacific Highway 101 with the top down and the warm ocean wind in your hair, while “Muscle Cars” is the electro-house vehicle of choice. There’s a joyous 80s vibe to the album, from the string-laden “Guilty of Love” to the New Wave-influenced “Paris Four Hundred”—but it’s filtered through a modern sensibility that pokes fun at itself. For proof, listen to the religious fanatic of the title track layered on top of a dance beat—you can’t take a zealot who mispronounces Cyndi Lauper and David Bowie seriously. But to counter to irony, “Emotion 98.6” has an authentic sweetness to it. But the sparkling gem here is undoubtedly “In My Arms,” a deliriously charming 80s mash-up of the synth riff from Kim Carnes’ “Bette Davis Eyes” and the chorus from Boy Meets Girl’s “Waiting for a Star to Fall.” Marvelous through and through.

Mylo has firmly established himself as one of the best up and coming British producers, and Destroy Rock & Roll certainly reflects this. It's hard to find a weak point on this album, in fact, I'd be as daring to say there isn't one. A delightful blend of upbeat and downbeat tracks ensure that this album will be in your system for weeks!
