This 1993 release on Curb Records by Ray Stevens has for years been erroneously listed as a compilation album on a variety of websites. This error is obviously the result of the album's title, "Classic Ray Stevens", causing confusion among those that do not personally own the release as I do. The fact is "Classic Ray Stevens" is a studio album of all-new recordings from Ray Stevens. They're not previously released songs. The title of the album has a couple of meanings. First it's a reference to the art work that appears on the cover. The bust of Beethoven is a bust of Ray Stevens...and, secondly, the songs found on the album were designed for comparison to some of the songs found on his classic, older comical albums...and so "Classic Ray Stevens" became the name of the studio album. So, no, this is not a compilation album nor a greatest hits-type of release.
