For those who have this copy, how is the pressing?

My copy sounds perfect from start to finish. I would suggest a little cleaning for anyone that says this has clicks/pops. My record did come fairly dirty, but after a brief cleaning it sounded amazing. I can’t recommend this album enough!

Same with me. The popping is only on side 2.

This is, by general acclaim, one the definite ambient albums of all time. It literally has everything this genre has to offer. A truly epic ride through mesmerizing music and perhaps an opus magnum of Steve’s life that even him wouldn’t match. I wish him that he does, though, for all of ours sake.

All these years later, and for the future for that matter, there is only a four letter word that can sum up this album in perfect precision: "Home"

For me, the most important ambient release. Not just music and sound. There is something else and it doesnt have a name. But is has something to do with spiritual energy.

Why is it stated as a US print if it was made in Germany?

massive ambient dobbelalbum with all the Roach elements in it,play this in a quit envirement (your own dessert backyard or a forgotten place) or just play this on full volume on a great party !thats wat Roach dreamtime brings you,go in to this beautifull musical structure and enjoy it !.

It's strange to be writing a review for an album upon hearing it is so indescribable. It's not just trying to describe objectively what's going on without sounding flat, sterile and lifeless. It's also trying to put into words the sensations and emotions experienced whilst listening to it. I believe that everyone experiences it differently but there is an commonality: introspective, healing, awe-inspiring, wondrous, beautiful and immaculate. In short, this is the great aural equivalent of Chartres Cathedral or Hagia Sophia. This is truly art.

This release could easily have been called "Selected Ambient Works BC", it's quite difficult to describe the beauty of it in words. The tracks are simple and minimal, but yet hit the nail on the head with perfect precision. "The Return" is just pure bliss. It's hard to believe that Roach used to be a professional motorbike racer!

Certainly one of the most important ambient releases of the last twenty-five years and most likely Roach's strongest and most representative work. I remember the time and place I bought my copy (actually, my grandfather bought it for me), and, even after the first listen, it was nothing less than an introduction to a whole new world of sound and emotion. Dreamtime Return's effortless fusion of tribal and electronic instrumentation is ageless and doesn't sound at all dated, even on the neo-Berlin-School opener, "Toward the Dream," which gives me excited chills to this day. Each track blends seamlessly into the next and though this album is epic to say the least, it never becomes boring, static, or saccharine. The Aboriginal elements are tasteful and never exploitative like so many faux ethnic ambient and psy-trance releases from the early to mid-nineties. I've been listening to this one for eleven years and it's always rich and powerful, the kind of music a person will live with for the rest of his or her life. An outstanding achievement.
