Wow! I'm really happy! I can't believe that there's a reference to this, through Google! This was the first LP I purchased. I had been buying singles since 1961. As far as I know, no singles were released. As I recall, some of the proceeds were to go to a charitable purpose. There may have been singles, for promotional purposes. In fact, I never heard a full track played on radio station KRLA - AM in Los Angeles. Just ads with snippets of songs. It sounded great, so I had to buy the L P. & it is good! I met Bob Keene, at the Pacoima Post Office, on (north) Van Nuys Boulevard, when Postage Stamps by musical artists, including Ritchie Valens, were issued. Bob gave me his card. I told him that this "Twist" album should be reissued, and he said that he'd think about it. On the same day, at the same time, there was also a (larger) celebration on the Santa Monica pier, but this was farther away, I procrastinated (as usual) and instead went to Pacoima, closer to me, and I'm glad that I did. There was a nice gathering, in back of the Post Office, in the parking lot. Refreshments! Is there a (quality) C D? Thanks! Valens was one of Bob's important artists, on one of Bob's labels (including 'Donna'). Another big artist for awhile, for Bob, was Sam Cooke. His 'You Send Me' was a Number One disc. Cooke's first successful pop records were on - record collectors should know this - the Keen label, named after Bob Keene. Bob sold a lot of 45's & 45 rpm E. P.'s by Cooke. Back then, if you liked a song you'd heard on the radio, you bought the single. Relatively few people purchased an album, so pop & rock music LP sales were relatively low. Valens is at the same Catholic Cemetery, at Sepulveda & Rinaldi in Mission Hills, as my parents. Bob Hope & his wife Dolores, are in back of the Mission, near there! Get Down! (In fact, they did!) Mr. Keen went to the Pacoima Post Office, because years before, he'd received a tip about Ritchie, and went to the Pacoima High School auditorium to see Valens. Bob said that Ritchie was banging on a twenty - five cent guitar, singing "Baby baby baby." All of the young people were going crazy, so Bob recorded Ritchie. Back then, as Pacoima is in the North East San Fernando Valley, of Los Angeles, Pacoima High School must have seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere.
