FRAY
The "remix" here is odd. It's more like an "alternate mix"; the mastering sounds slightly off to my ears. Or, to put it in a different way, the instrumentation is emphasized differently so certain parts stick out more than others, but not necessarily in a normal "remix" sense. It also has a bit of a coda at the end that isn't present on the actual album version.
POFOD
It should be noted that the Motiv 8 mix of this track is wildly misjudged. There is much in the lyric to suggest melancholic synth-pop but the song's actual construction totally precludes this as an option: the tragedy is soundtracked pertinently by the fact that this ain't no disco, while the awkwardly anthemic setting of phrases like 'damp and lonely Thursday' is central to the song's dilemma. The heavy-handed superimposition of an identikit Motiv 8 bassline and drum pattern sounds absurd. Even if the song could be reimagined as a synth-pop record, this would NOT be the way to do it.
