Rive Gauche - Friends Are Friends FLAC download

A fantastic little slice of mid-80's Belpop, featuring the legendary Carol on vocals.Fast New Wave vibes, angular guitars, punchy drums, great synth work.The a-side "Friends Are Friends" follows this formula very well, and while there isn't really a chorus as such you still find yourself tapping your feet to it. Plus the lyrics are rather interesting, Carol's got quite a sharp tongue on this song!The b-side, "Back", is a more understated track. Very cool, kinda like a precursor to Saint Etienne in many ways.Both tracks are very classy, and it's a real shame that this is all Rive Gauche released. It'd be cool for a label to reissue this 7", perhaps as a split 12" with Carol's Breakdown / So Low.But as Breakdown has been reissued quite a lot recently, I guess there won't be much demand.
