Does hardcore get any better? Top 10 EP of the year.

Ahhh... the sweet, raw sound of hardcore 'gainst my eardrums.

Remember when my friend returned from blackmarket with this ep, paradox and the quickening were the tunes for me,they worked so well in the mix and allowed you to build up and move on with its great breakdowns and overall production, the keys in the quickening could overlap and build like magic , these tunes are all about the mix and thats why i still rate this ep today > intense did alot of great tunes and this ep deserves the praise it gets.

For me paradox is the tune... It's fast, frenetic and paranoid, the bass is bad and constant subtle changes in the drum patterns build to the most beautiful, unexpected break with the orchestral sound and choir singing. Add to that the twisted "they're watching me" sample and it all comes together for a brilliant tune appreciated most when played loud... Beautifully paranoid.

This clearly shows how you have understood the track and you are spot on. I bought this when it first came out and blew me away. The other tracks on there were not too bad either. There was a lot of stuff flooding the market back then which many have raved about but not me. Cartoon skid is wicked. It's also euphoric.

Can't see what all the fuss is about... I find this record really bland and have no idea why people are paying serious money for it ? Along with a lot of the other rugged records, there is nothing ground breaking about the production and it hasn't stood the test of time.. Unlike a lot of the other big D&B records from 93, this one sounds dated !

You can't really deny that sample is pretty amazing though. The way the whole track builds to that breakdown is genius, adding suspense & atmosphere as it progresses. Maybe it's the use of that Chuck break that makes it sound dated as it wasn't used too much after this era..?
Brialelis
I think you should listen to "The Quickening" from start to finish and attempt to make that statement again. I will agree with you on one thing. It is dated. 1993 I believe... what a fine vintage.

The second breakdown sample is from this https://youtu.be/qoaXdyQ9Ub8

To answer the question posted. The breakdown sample is from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzx08e1mIGs&feature=player_embedded A film called Millenium. Cheers to SmartE from b2vos for the heads up on that.
