The Sphinx of Driz
I am not the opinion like the other Discogs user - btw it is all a matter of taste anyway. But he wrote that its mid90s - that is wrong. The release was 92 and in that time it was much fresher than it would have if released 95. Its needed to seperate the meaning or the aim of tracks. If you compare more commercial orientated tracks like this one with underground techno or underground trance it makes no sense because its a different kind of music style. To find out the worth, the quality of a track its better to compare it with similar style tunes. If you do this and if you include the fact how much djs played it back in the days, you can calculate the position of "In Trance" in this connection. The track, also the more progressive versions, are solide tools for melodic technohouse sets with an old school background. I have memories that Fenslau used it in his famous hr3 clubnights and it was played a lot in clubs and discos in the early 90s.

A typical, mid-90's techno/trance track. Boring 4 on the floor drums, repetitive and really uninspired. A symphony of arpeggiated synths, pipe-organ pianos, acid squiggles and a Yello-ish male vocal saying the title. I think the term "generic" can be given to this release.
