An mp3 of this studio version was readily available for download from the February, 1996 installment of “This Month in Phishtory” at www.phish.com, but somewhere along the way, the “Strange Design” mp3 unfortunately seems to have disappeared into the digital abyss".

This sounds incredible! Very clean and quit vinyl on first play. Can't wait to hear it in my Sennheiser phones, but it sounded joyous, loud and LIVE on my speakers. I didn't realize how badly I needed a high fidelity version of this album. Midway through the title track, I was crying. 5/5

If you are looking for this there are a lot of record stores that still have it. Check the phish.net forums there are a handful of stores selling for MSRP, I just got one.

Excellent release, in line with the rest of the Phish remastered back catalog. Record itself was flat and clean out of the gate, and dead silent; very very minimal surface noise - hardly detectable. Great job with the mastering, too (Bellman delivers again). It sounds big and wide. Everything comes through clean and clear. Best I've heard this album sound!I know a lot of people will balk at the $50 list price, but it is well worth it for how well this thing was done. Ignore the flippers and be patient. 7,500 is a ton of copies, so the price will drop, and if you can wait a few months it'll be available through online retailers - this was only an "RSD First" release so more will be available in the near future.

Future copies likely will not be numbered, though. Would have loved a tip-on jacket for the price. Would also like to understand the justification of the price, other than trying to price out the consumers and flippers from the get go.

Pricing will certainly come down, 7,500 is a lot of copies. Most of these flippers will be disappointed, just wait it out.

Absurd pricing on this one considering nothing new was added.

I was lucky to find one that someone had put back in the wrong spot. Was grabbing the new Dead set and saw this behind it. Double-score.But RSD in its current form needs to die. Too many flippers and too many crappy re-hashes from major labels.

Thanks. I was able to get the last available from RSD at a local store (paid the same as you) so I'm glad to hear it's high quality. I have Fuego on vinyl and like the sound, so I wasn't expecting it to be bad or anything.

Pressing quality is EXCELLENT as all Phish vinyl that has been coming out year by year. I got a low # copy. Sounds much better than original CD, & has great dynamics. Still, a bit pricey IMOPO - $49.99 @ an independent record store day is what I paid on RSD - for 3 sides - not colored vinyl - no etching or anything on side 4 (so it comes out to about $18 a side after taxes at retail price). Sound is amazing though, & that is what's most important, & of course it is a great Phish album. If you can be patient, it should eventually show up in Dry Goods.

Can you speak to the quality of the pressing? This is a top 10 album for me, but I don't want to pay top dollar for a crummy pressing.

Same here in Australia. One of my local shops actually ordered it, but didn't get it in. Rather surprising knowing how many were pressed!

7500 releases, i feel like a lot of flipper bought this to make a buck, I hope it goes below cost.

If you where watching Ebay this weekend before RSD there where sellers already listing pre-orders for this release. That’s pretty crappy for those who stand out in the weather and cold groping to get a copy! There are some stores that will hold copies of this for buyers, this should not be allowed , only if a person is handicapped possibly! But some of these are people who are working for Jemp, the compamy pressing these, are able to get early access to the title as well. So do people who work for the band!Update on this release and how people are getting these early:I unexpectedly received a copy of this on Thursday from a friend who is a crew member and got two early access copies of this album! She sent it to me as I know her personally from when I followed Phish before I finally had to get a job, settle down and I finally got married to my partner of 18yrs last year! We’ve kept in touch over the years and she’s been able to get me some really cool stuff and update me on concerts and releases. So this was an unexpected gift and it is identical to the RSD with the foil numbering, just doesn’t have the silver RSD sticker on the cellophane.

This speaks well of RSD. Two people supposedly already have this and RSD is still about two weeks away. Looks like that is two less normal customers that don't get it.

Looks like its being flipped on Amazon for $60 plus 4 bucks shipping. Will wait and see on this... while the $50 retail price is absurd, its in line with the rest of their Elektra studio releases. It seems like they charge 25 per disc... A live one was 100, and NYE MSG was 150.

2 things- 1) adding it to your collection doesn’t mean someone has it. I add things to my collection all the time I’ve preordered or am certain I’ll get. 2) this is /7500. Trust me, you’ll get a copy.

Some people (me) who know they are going to get one put it on their collection and wantlist as a way of keeping track of what they have and is on the way. Just because it is on the gots list doesn't mean it's physically in someone's hand.

I guess you are newcomer to RSD and have never seen the teams of flippers who come in and buy one of each then immediately go home and put them on eBay. And Phish being so popular will definitely sell out. So as I always say, shame on you dishonest people who have to get it in a way that RSD never condones. And anyone that wants to try to "justify" being right, go ahead, because you know you are still wrong.

If you took reading comprehension, I didn't say I had a record, I said I had an original issue, which yes, is a CD.

I am pretty sure this is the first time it has been pressed to vinyl so you can't already have an "original issue".

That’s exactly my point. As a “regular customer “ you aren’t supposed to have one yet. Unless you deal with someone dishonesty and doesn’t follow the RSD rules.

This will be the original vinyl issue, so you can't possibly have another vinyl version of this album because it doesn't exist. You probably have the cd. I am one of the "normal" customers you speak of, I just happen to have gotten my hands on a copy already. Just wait until the flippers get copies and start selling them online for huge money, then you'll really be mad.

So how do you explain two people saying that they have it? Oh, and no i’m Not mad. I already have an original issue. Who wants an over hyped repress that is reallly nothing special.
