Notes

Reissue as mentioned on bottom of the back cover: "Manufactured and distributed by www.purepleasurerecords.com. The copyright in this sound recording is owned by Vanguard Records, a Welk Music Group Company
(P) 1966 Vanguard Records, a Welk Music Group Company, licensed from Ace records Ltd. Taken from the Vanguard CD "Skip James" (VMD 79219)"

Note however that the "taken from CD" credit was insisted upon by the licensor rather than a reflection of the actual source: the source material for the release - according to mastering engineer Kevin Gray - was analog tape.

Comes with color insert detailing other reissue pressings by Pure Pleasure Records of Vanguard releases.

Uriel
As for the record, this is JAW-DROPPING stuff. Song-wise, of course, such powerful music exists in few other times, languages or places. But the sound quality too is phenomenal. You expect recordings from this period to have tape hiss - there's none here.

Note that, although the back cover of the LP states "Taken from the Vanguard CD "Skip James" (VMD 79219)", Michael Fremer has pointed out that "this was a 'credit' insisted upon for some bizarre reason, by the licensor but, I have been assured by Pure Pleasure and AcousTech mastering engineer Kevin Gray, the source material was most certainly analog tape."
