Yellowjackets - Four Corners FLAC download

I just received this so called Japanese "remastered" version of 4 corners. I had high hopes of the original recording made warmer, clearer, and slightly compressed. Those looking for improvements when compared to the GRP issues will be highly disappointed. Muddy low end, washy highs that eventually got on my nerves, and far to much mid range (keyboards and brass a go-go). Jimmy Haslip's superb fretless basslines get lost in the mix, as do Wil Kennedy's cymbal work and snare. In my opinion don't bother with it, and to MCA, if this is the best your sound engineers could do, even an amateur could not mess up this bad.

This is their last Jazz-Fusion release, produced by David Hentschel for MCA with a total play time of 48:03 on vinyl LP album. You can hear the better rhythm section on the first six songs. Marc Russo and Russell Ferrante share the leads, and the whole band is cooking on four tunes. The album reached number three on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.
