Seriously, this is one of my all time favourites. I have already transmutated 2 copies of this from M to g+ by playing the fuck outta it. A real scary nightmare into the depths of civilization and its adherent discontents. "Alone & Dead" pretty much sums up the conundrum and pains of the civilized indivdual in an artistic rudimentary form. This is like a million times scarier than any Black Metal or cheesy Goth crap. This makes Glenn Danzig look like Winnie Pooh and Marilyn Manson like your mother. In my book this is high up on the authenticity scale. If there actually was something like truth this would be pretty damn close. Nasty, creepy, hypnotizing Garage sprinkled with cheap Synth effects, guaranteed to piss off and hurt people clinging to some monologual understanding of musical entertainment. Everything by the Necessary Evils is well worth listening to, but this is their absolute "Über-Meisterwerk". At this point I'd strongly have to recommend Steve Pallow's post Evils output as "Haunted George" as well.

I couldn't agree with you more. I remember James making a bunch of those synth sounds with a whacked-out guitar that had a slot to insert effects cartridges - similar to Atari game cartridges, just smaller. Once I spoke with Steve about recording this one, and, as you can imagine it would be when in the presence of a Necessary Evil, the details of the conversation are hazy at best. But I recall it went something like - recorded after hours when the studio was "free" - when not recording, usually at bar next door - for some reason I want to say that much of the album was written in the studio - the entire session/binge was fueled by the death of Mike - Steve has little, if any, real memory of recording the music. Whether or not those details are true, I cannot say. Perhaps years of listening to this disc have just inputed false facts into the void in my memory that my conversation with Steve started out as. I don't know. But I do know that this record is one of my true treasures. It is balls out hard - and it never grows old - and I can't play it without feeling every emotion I've ever known rush over me at once. 100% honest.
