Minimalism exceptional. You take Mother Mallard into the 80s utilize all the then latest technology adding both sampled and analog/digital instruments and what you get is an earful of beautiful twisting and sonically caressing polyphonic minimalist music.I love all the layers of sound from those crystalline FM bell tones to the bassy analog sounds all mingling with one another like a fine tuned exotic sports car! Having been a longtime fan of early 70s Mother Mallard I found this release to be just as complex and engaging as the ensembles works but came to terms the reason MM was so timeless was because of Borden's genius in composition. A true gem of modern minimalism without the crustiness of being all stale acoustic instrumentation. Yes some of us LIKE the sound of electronic instruments!
