Conspiracy Of Equals - Grand Illusion FLAC download

At first look, you are inclined to believe Conspiracy Of Equals to be a French Band.With the band name borrowed from François-Noël Babeuf's French Revolution group, and the record being released on a French label, it would be an honest mistake to make.However, further investigation would reveal this to be actually a (now seemingly defunct) US band from Arizona, that was active in the early '90s.I guess this could be described as dark metallic hardcore.All the tracks have a deep meaningful political message, and the insert even has some Animal Rights information (in French).I have to admit this is really not my cup of tea.Though I understand that for this type of releases the message being conveyed has much greater significance than the music which accompanies it, I do personally require some sort of melodic approach (if not "catchyness") to any style of music I listen to.And sadly I didn't find anything here that would attract to the actual music.However, I am indeed grateful for being given the chance to discover this record, simply because I got to discover the amazing track that is "Shades Of Grey"!Personally, for me this record/band is worth it for this song alone!It was so inspiring and refreshing to discover a song that is both dark and gloomy, but also optimistic and solution-offering at the same time, with the title being used in two different ways with opposing meanings:"Imagine the world drained of all it's color.Shades of grey take place of creed and culture.""Stop the lie, stop todayNo black and whiteJust shades of grey."
