Being slightly too young for the prime of the rave scene, my older brother introduced me to electronic music in the mid-to-late 90's - mostly trance and hardcore - when I was a young teenager. Fast forward many years, I found myself at one of Chicago's premier raves: Barnyard Boogie (I believe it was the 15th edition). Walking from one stage to another, I was stopped in my tracks... glorious, glorious happy hardcore - it was Matt Positive. While dancing, a lovely young woman handed me this mixtape - Happy League Vol. 2. I went home, listened to this tape on repeat, and planned to acquire some turntables and HHC records. In short, this tape isn't just good. It's life-changing. It's why I'm on discogs, it's why I'm hunting these tracks on vinyl, it's why I love electronic music again. Now if only I can find the other Happy League tapes...
