Mine has no pops or clicks. Sounds beautifully haunting. Good pressing.
Mavegelv
I bought a new shrinkwrapped copy and both inner sleeves have seam splits on the bottom edges AND the beginning of a split on the front jacket gatefold. Just mine or has anyone else experienced this?
Orevise
My copy is neat, sounds great the only thing is at the end of B1 a rare click.
DART-SKRIMER
Does anyone else have a copy where both A1 and A2 end abruptly before the last song is over?
Fordrekelv
Awful pressing, extremely noisy :( Ruins the mood a lot considering how quiet many parts are :( Tried with my antistatic brush but that didn't help much, I guess I won't really listen to it that often :(
Arakus
i have a lot of distortion on tracks A2,A3 & B2 .... hard time for vinyl fans !is the US version better ?
Gadar
My copy is fine, almost perfect. The least of vinyl sound a few places, but over all just fine.

Well, the music is fantastic...some of Yorke's best, I fancy. The vinyl pressing is awful. I mean it's listenable in places, but only in places. There is a LOT of noise and a weird distortion throughout most of it (which I assume is not meant to be there). I don't think I will listen to the vinyl again...i just about sat through it this time, but it wasn't easy. This just isn't acceptable...how has this happened? How did someone listen to a test pressing and give it the green light? I thought Optimal were considered pretty reliable, but this is just not on. Maybe it's because it's coloured? I dunno, but I won't be buying another XL record without waiting for release and checking the reviews here first...might just have to listen to this on Thom's favourite Spotify from now on.

Thanks for the info. I guess it must be that then...I heard a ripping kind of sound in several places, among other problems.
Dondallon
Not sure if this is what you are referring to....but I find a lot of Optimal pressings, moreso on coloured variants, tend to have a lot of no-fill. This causes a ripping sound on playback. Essentially no-fill is when the vinyl cools prematurely before it is able to form the groove adequately.

Up there with Amnesiac, beautiful album. Unmade is an instant classic.

I've been spinning this constantly since before Halloween - I love it, but it was pretty noisy on the first spin and I was disappointed. However... Both discs had alot of static cling out of the cardboard inner, so it got wet-washed and placed in a mofi sleeve. Static is controlled now and surface noise is reduced. The pops and clicks that were still present (which were pretty annoying in some passages) have significantly been reduced with repeat playings, and it's pretty quiet (and beautiful) now. I've heard of repeat playings sometimes 'polishing out' the pops - that seems to have happened with mine. Give it a shot. It's worth it.

Experiencing the same problem, this record is so noisy :( Ruins the mood a lot considering how quiet many parts are :( Tried with my antistatic brush but that didn't help much

Added a US listing - any corrections (or better images) are welcome.Regarding surface noise - my copy had alot of static cling out of the cardboard inner, so it got wet-washed and placed in a mofi sleeve. I'm on my second copy of this now as first was full of pops and crackles, much like an old record - nothing too distracting but given the excellence of the overall sound quality it was frustrating. The second copy was marginally better but still has a pretty consistent crackle throughout - particularly on side A2. If I'm honest though, I've come to accept that its never going to be perfectly silent (unless you're one of the lucky ones!) and the music itself; the quality of the soundstage - which is wide and open - has drawn me in so much that I can bear the flaws, perhaps now even feel it to be part of this haunting score. And yes, in places this is genuinely disturbing - beautiful but disturbing. Thom Yorke has done a wonderful job. Honestly I get the feeling that this was meant to be heard and experienced in this format and the overall packaging is excellent. I would suggest that if you can tolerate a gentle crackling (like an old haunted LP) that can only be heard in the quietest moments then go ahead and grab yourself a copy. A bit of quality control wouldn't go amiss though.
snowball
noisy pressing. especially at busy vocal passages. cartridge aligned properly.i even want to give it a deep clean in ultrasonic cleaner. those of you who find it quiet, are you listening with headphones or speakers? Speaker might not be sensitive enough to those kind of noises.
Yojin
Mine is perfect and beautiful. Listening on a Clearaudio Concept MC, Rega Aria, Arcam Amplifier and very good Monitor Audio speakers. I know a noisy pressing when I have one and mine is dead silent. Sorry yours isn’t much cop.
Brazil
Could someone (who bought from the US) please create an entry for the US pressing (if it's actually different, as noted below)? It might help in determining if the pressing issues being reported are predominantly coming from one plant or not.
Modar
I purchased mine in a US shop as well, and it sounds like garbage. Side A1 also has a visible line running perpendicular to the grooves, from the outer edge to the runout. It's not a scratch, but there's an audible noise with every rotation. I contacted XL to see about a replacement, and even though the scratch and noise are issues from the pressing plant, they told me I'm not their customer, and I should drive the 30 miles back to the shop for a refund. Nice.
Jeyn
mine was bought at US store. noisy background.distortion at busy passages.
Malalrajas
My copy is noisey as fuck! Pre-ordered from the UK from the W.A.S.T.E webstore. Pretty disappointing :(The music sounds amazing, but this pressing does not do it justice. Like another person said... swirling noise on rotations... especially bad in the right channel.
Madis
US copies were not pressed at Optimal, I believe. The matrix runout etchings do not include the Optimal code listed above (BI33115). I cannot find where the US copies were pressed at, but I believe this may be why some have excellent-sounding copies (the Optimal ones) and some don't (the US-pressed copies). Again, this version is listed as a UK and Europe version, not a US version.
Ferne
Actually, Optimal has been one of the worst pressing plants recently, so I'm assuming the records pressed in the US are where most of the positive comments are coming from. Bought mine from a local shop in Colorado.
Trash
Sounds great! Very little surface noise and the pressing sounds really clear. Happy with this version.
Kigul
Unmitigated, enthralling brilliance...ai yi yi yi yi! (Shiver, shiver, swoon)
Rexfire
Happy to report another copy that sounds great, with impressive sonics, an open soundstage, and no intrusive surface noise/imperfections. Also, an absolutely gorgeous score and some of Thom’s best work.
sobolica
Mine sounds wonderful, warm and clear with few pops and crackles.
Vaua
there's no download included, right? (five more words needed, yeah)
Sha
Yeah. Pretty disappointed about that. All other XL records I've bought came with one. This record wasn't cheap and, these days, not including a download code just seems shortsighted (especially because I also like to listen to my music on the go and I have yet to turn into this guy --> https://i.pinimg.com/474x/57/8a/87/578a87dc4f9147f9bf1b4f4566abae91--hipster-things-funny-things.jpg ).I've tried contacting XL about this, but can't find a direct email address. I've sent them a message via their Facebook page, but no reply so far. I see other people have complained about the same via Twitter and FB, but XL haven't replied.
MEGA FREEDY
Yeah, mine didn't have a download either. Not that it's a huge deal but it seems a little unusual.
