One of the best psychedelic female folk records period! Beautiful vocals dreamy and haunting straight from Topanga Canyon 1969.

Great record. I have had this version twice. Never came across the black label version. If you can't afford the record buy the CD. I stupidly passed on a clean CD version used in a shop for $8.99. At least I never paid more than $6 for the original LP (Grin).

I agree with what Vinyl-Machine said, it's a fine sounding RE/RM (Mexican Summer, Remastered 2LP Limited Ed.). Although my copy has negligible background noise (I hardly register it). If you can, pick it up.

I’m joining this thread very late just for the record. I have a red label original, opened from sealed, and yes, it’s a poor pressing. Quite a lot of crackle, and a pop on the first side that virtually jumps, which can only have come from a pressing fault

Anybody who own this that can tell me how the sound quality on this reissue is?

This is the remastered and 1000 Copies limited 2-LP Version: the (re)mastering was well done, really good dynamics, powerful sound , the voice of Linda Perhacs ‎is briliant and has NO harshness of "s" sounds. All great !One thing, the pressing of the LP, maybe not the really best, my LPs was still sealed but I hear overall much background noise and light cracks... Maybe I go for a LP washing ...If you can, go to get a copy of this fine remastered LP !

I have a red label copy and it sounds just fine. Black label vs red label sounds like artificially trying to create value. Has anyone actually had a red label and black to compare side by side?

I have both labels in nm shape and I don't notice any difference. In fact the red label plays slightly better. This lp was pressed when Kapp was transitioning from black to red. One pressing with two diff labels. Both lps matrix #'s in dead wax match up perfectly.

How is the sound quality on this reissue? Compared to the other REs around... Anyone? Thanks!

musically, a true masterpiece without any question. although the quality of this pressing is all in all very good, the harshness on the "s" sounds destroys it. like no de-essing was used at all, it's there on almost all of the songs. how can this happen in 2008, where the label boasts this reissue with "AUDIOPHILE" pressing ?? well, it's not.

Spot on. "Hey who really cares?', one of my favourite tracks is almost unlistenable to. I'd even say, it's worse than other formats I've heard. A shame, but still a joy to have this on vinyl in some form!

Seconded. Sadly, it's just as bad as fubert says. Might have to look for another pressing someday.

I think you had a bad copy or something... It sounds without pops and surface noise on my gear...
