No possibilities to remix and make better than the original 7"

Hiow could one even try to remix a track as iconic as this. Yet Patrick Cowley pulled off the impossible. Impecable new synth riffs and space bleeps and 15 minutes later one knows what its like to be happy in outer space. Of course Moroder, Belotte and Summer gave Cowley the sounds to bounce off in the first place but Cowley really did deliver a miracle that we listen to in awe. Lets not forget too that the Moog is the unsung hero in all this.

Patrick Cowley was one of our synth-whiz dance pioneers, but I am not sure his additions to this song are to my liking, or even if they were necessary. The original mix was perfect and didn't need improvement.

I got the bootleg version for a couple of euro recently...that'll have to do. Sharks be damned ;)

SamAK I got the bootleg version for a couple of euro recently...that'll have to do. Sharks be damned ;) I was openly laughed at on here for simply asking about the basic rip-off a supposed 'mint' copy of this can fetch.I've seen it for as much as £50/60, I never for a second would pay that for this !Finally got a 'minty' one off ebay and was genuinelly surprised just HOW 'mint' it was for £16....A big problem is the card used on both releases as one look and it can bend & it get that circular 'scuff mark' in jig time.Would you beleive the 'newest release' from Donna HQ is Another 'Greatest Hits', to co-incide with The Musical about her's success. They can't even reprint this in a proper LP Album [thick card !] type of sleeve ?

Stupid response that adds nothing to the conversation. You wasted more of your own time than mine.
Axebourne
With all due respect, but do you even have a pelvis?

I'm glad to see this is still an in-demand record. I was there on the Space Terrace in Miami at WMC 2002 when Danny Tenaglia dropped this for the first time ever, while Danny Howells was out on the dancefloor with us, Corona in hand, out of his mind. The remix is true to the original while adding a nice bouncy tribal percussive edge. Long live LaDonna Gaines in eternity!

I was there that night too. Was a night to remember

Released at the end of 1977 or the early beginning of 1978 by Patrick Cowley himself; only a handfull were made of this acetate. They were handed out to several DJ's, Casablanca and Disconet. There were two versions: one with a white label and one with the Sunshine Sound label. Both came from Sunshine Sound. Because of the succes Patrick Cowley also self-released 50 vinyl versions. Released by Cowley himself. Handtypes sticker which says ["I Feel Love" (synthesized) 33 1/3 RPM 16.04]. In reality the time is not 16.04 but 16.15 minutes. I taped this from the original using a Technics 1210mk2 turntable. 50 vinl versions were made. How many there are left now is unknown. This original version is slightly longer and slightly different (rougher) to the Disconet / Casablanca versions (which takes 15.45 minutes on 45 RPM). The vinyl versions were handed out bij Cowley (for promotion of his remix) to several DJ's/radiostations (as well as the acetates). This vinyl version matches exactly the acetate version released on the Sunshine Sound Label. There are two independent sources (óne DJ from San Francisco knew Cowley personally) who confirm this story. n the A-side is etched in the run-out grooves: "6814 and DJ-989A". On the B-side is etched "backing plate - long for side - 300 LPI/30 Min". The B-side has running grooves for about 30 minutes but no sound. There exists also an exactly the same record but with a slightly different etching on the A-side: "7145 and DJ-999A".

My label is different than the one that has been uploaded with this release...

On this cover (which I posted) is shown the date of 12-11-1982. I do not know weather this is the real release date of this promo. I think this promo was released months earlyer... The date of 12-11-1982 is also the day that Patrick Cowley died. I cannot believe that Casablanca waited to release this record on the day that Patrick Cowley died. Is there any-one who knows / can tell the real release date of this promo?
Bine
Well; as long as no one has any proof of the real release date your suggestion is certainly an option....
Qulcelat
Now you got me assuming somebody heard that Patrick Cowley died and wrote the date on the cover that same day.
Ochach
Well; this song must have been played earlyer on the radio because Disconet released it already in 1979/1980. So I do not think this was the first time is was played on the radio. So I still think this was truly the first release date on the Casablanca label...
Mr.mclav
I think the handwritten date is the time the song was first played on the radio.
Nicearad
Undoubtly Patrick Cowley added value on the in 1979 released track from Donna Summer. His 15 minutes mega mix is made for driving the dancefloor crazy.
Wetiwavas
Sorry, but the original mix needed nothing. It was perfect.
Best West
Few have played a synth with the same virtuosity convincingly simulating a processed electric guitar solo before or since Patrick Cowley did it here. "I Feel Love", "Sea Hunt" & "I Need Somebody to Love Tonight" (from Sylvesters '79 album "Stars") are 3 tracks that help form a lasting legacy to one of AIDS first victims who by his death in 1982 went deeper into sound than many living artists did in 2002.
Enila
And don't forget that at that time 1981 - 1982 the disease AIDS was not known yet (and neither, of course, the way it was contracted) - so bigots who (still) think that everybody who got/gets AIDS has to be either a perverted homosexual or a dirty junkie have absolutely no point in the case of Patrick Cowley (of course they don't have a point whatsoever). At the time of Patrick Cowley's death, we thought he had died of some sort of leukemia.
Togor
When someone is either badly harmed or killed by someone or something, they may be referred to as a 'victim' of that thing or person. So, there was nothing wrong with what Chris said.
