Extracted from the Mix CD:Oscar Mulero:When the guys at Tresor asked me to do a dj mixed CD I felt more than happy.Tresor has been one of the key labels in my musical background. One of the labels more significant and revelant inside the history of the electronic music, even more if we talk about techno. A label that i have used vary much in my dj sets and that I have taken as a reference to form my style as dj and producer. Another happy circumstance was the possibility of having the entire label's catalogue to choose among. Wich means part of the best recent electronic music made in the last 20 years. This retrospective music selection gave me room to put together classic material as well as brand new stuff, merging from different ages on one mix, ranging from electro to Detroit techno to whatever. This was not hand work for me as I still use a lot of that stuff in my recent sets, specially the tracks from the X-series.Although it's mainly a techno mix, it also includes weird electro experiments from Drexciya, a must for the understanding and developing of the electro sound of founders and designers, and one of my main influences as a producer.I've always thought that the more styles you manage, the more you open your message, that's why I've chosen to make a risky mix instead of a bunch of unreleased stuff or tracks for my selfpromotion. The mix title is all about this: bring the past into the present to redesign the future. This is an homage to a label, not to a dj.

One the truest best quality high tech soul mixes outhere. Totally priceless!

Flippin' heck. Mulero really pulls it out of the bag in what has to be the mix of the year. Simply astonishing from start to finish. Firstly there's the tracklist, which displays Mulero's keen ear for what needed to be 'reviewed' for one of the most original and important techno labels of the last two decades. For me personally it's a showcase of the Detroit-Berlin connection, but the emphasis is certainly on the production skills of the Detroitmeisters.Drexciya and Juan Atkin's soulful Motor City sounds echo through the mix whilst Hoods M-Plant-tronics and Mills space waves whirr and wash the mix with the past, present and future of techno. Helping thread this tapestry of techno and electro classics, contributions from Amsterdam's finest the Hood-like Steve Rachmad, whilst the UK is represented by Tresor stalwarts Surgeon, James Ruskin and Female. Dan Bell's bleeptastic Acid Phreak makes a welcome appearance and Mulero himself also joins the mix. Of course a Tresor mix wouldn't be complete without Pacou and Mulero duly delivers up some of Pacou's finest cuts.Standout tracks for me have to include: Hoods utterly beguiling Steve Reichlike Minus; Sterac's ode to the Motor City Liteon and of course Drexciya's sublime and magical Andreaen Sand Dunes. The mixing itself is precision perfect with plenty of subtle EQing that blends one track into the other seamlessly and when some tracks deserve more of an airing then they damn well get it.I reckon this is my favourite Tresor mix and it does the label and Mulero proud - a true celebration of pure techno in all its soulful, machinelike and blissful glory.
