I'd like to know if the tracks from their first single included here are taken from master tapes or ripped off a vinyl disc. Thanks a lot!

"Do It Again" and "Haitian Divorce" are the standard-length versions we know and love (note to _digger: these songs are the same exact length as the album versions). The fidelity of these two tracks are outstanding, a slight cut above the Robert Ludwig legendary mastering of Steely Dan's Greatest Hits. As for "Dallas" and "Sail The Waterway," the mastering is pretty muffled -- and yet better than any other version I've ever heard, although I've never heard the original 7" single.

Agree completely. They should have been more embarrassed with the picture on the cover than Dallas and Sail the Waterway. The songs are lightweight compared to the rest of their catalogue but still interesting to hear. Fagen with a Christmas sweater complete with reindeer and Becker looks like Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character from Boogie Nights.

Would I be correct in my assumption that this contains the only released vinyl containing the unexpurgated version of 'Do It Again'? I'm sure the LP version wasn't this long... Any info would be gladly received!

This is a five-star review because of the two otherwise-unavailable tracks contained within: "Dallas" and "Sail The Waterway", the A- and B-sides, respectively, of La Dan's first ABC single from 1972. Although "Dallas" is, IMO, a great song (covered beautifully a couple of years later by Poco), it failed to nick the charts, and was not included on their debut Lp, "Can't Buy A Thrill". In fact, since those days, Donald and Walter have expressly disavowed the single, saying they'd rather forget it even existed. In fact, it's amazing that these sides were included on this UK EP, since our boys would have unilaterally vetoed such release if it had been proposed in the States. While arguably not quite up to the level of the material that eventually was included on their debut Lp, they're still fine songs and a must for any Dan completist.

You forgot to mention that this is also contains the unexpurgated version of their most famous crossover hit 'Do It Again' unless I'm missing something... I don't think the LP version was this long
