Wow... Can't remember if it was TEMPO or SPEED that I first heard these tracks. Must be herbal essences dicing the time line...Either way, it was "S" that really dropped IT for me. Simple beats arranged in a really unusual way that only Danny C and Mike Pears could, with crystal clear jazz tinges and a bass that was deep and moving. Just the way the main dreamy synth line dropped into the mix left me swaying back and forth as that BASS kicked its way through dreamy vocals samples that rang like bells, and a vocal sample mentioning something about "Hardcore". Awesome and lush, I still can't help but drop this from time to time..."Venom" is another simple yet effective track from Primary Motive. Darker than its B side, it starts with a simple hi hat intro, that drops into some beats and a way-out-there twisted bass line that just keeps on morphing from one tone into another.Either way, Danny C and Mike Pears were boys to watch while the Liquid Funk groove developed, as their mixing skills and beat arrangement really challenged what was the norm back then...
