outtakes/expanded sounds from orgship/orgisms - far from a bad thing if you like those albums. 10/10

one of my top ambient albums of all times. genious. try it if you like Eliane Radigue or Morton Feldman.

I love Solar Quest but honestly this is a pretty boring album. I had pretty high hopes after hearing Orgship, and while this Entropica album shares many of the same sounds, it never goes anywhere, never grows beyond what you hear in the first few minutes. To me, ambient music should lie somewhere between repetition, improvisation and an overall theme. When it's just one of those things and not all 3, it quickly becomes tiring for me and Sonic Bloom is a good example of having just one of those qualities (repetition). I would recommend you check out Orgship (under his Solar Quest moniker) for a very coherent, thematic and blissful record that embodies everything good about mid-90s ambient.

This is quite apt for the album: "These are not sounds... They are seeds... Plant one in ambient space and marvel at its growth." This music is not quite as interesting as a recording of wind blowing through trees would be. That would be 4th dimensional music compared to this stuff. Each track basically gives the feeling you're watching one tiny little seed floating pointlessly through completely empty space. It's not really growing but it might land somewhere in a few billion years and germinate. At least it is rotating slowly as it drifts and not perfectly round. A few of them might even be rotating in two directions! If you are in an extremely chilled mood and absolutely quiet place, this is actually some music you might want to explore. I sometimes listen to this as background music while studying in the perfectly quiet library. It's worth a listen if you like ambient music and sometimes are in a mood where you can do next to nothing without being bored or falling asleep. The first and last tracks are the most interesting ones.
