one of the more interesting ibiza compilations to be released this year, along with phil mison's "out of the blue" on leng. barrott and gooding obviously know what they are doing – haven't really checked out the latter so far, but barrott's recent releases have definitely made an impression on me.so, vol 2 of the series has some rare tuna on offer as well, with some rather "hard to find on mint vinyl for less than xx bucks" songs, e.g. the durutti column (mistyped on the sleeve as "duritti column"), dip in the pool and blue gas. each of those three is worth the purchase alone tbh.apart from aspects of rarity, it's a tasteful combination of both new school and more seasoned sounds, all tied together by a shared atmosphere of, for a change, unpretentious + authentic balearic feeling.. whatever that might be exactly. the term is quite fuzzy and most compilations fail in translating that into a musical setting. for this compilation, i think the fuzziness of what actually constitutes "balearic" is really its primary source of strength. variety makes for a happy purchase.**edit: the vinyl pressing is high quality btw – almost no background noise, probably 140g, great sound.

it certainly seems to be an element of the Balearic sound. Whatever, this compilation, as with the first volume, is lovely.

Totally agree the album is great and Otis sounds great.Only (very slight) downside is the Eric Serra tune to finish off the mix, it's a bit too Disney for me. I'm just waiting for a lobster to start singing. Maybe that's the Balearic sound.
