For YADi - born in South London - her music is an aural kaleidoscope of influences, one that mixes the music of her heritage with the pop of the future, creating a forward-thinking sound that sets her apart from the crowd.“Although totally British, my heritage is a real mix,” she says and one suffused with music. When YADi was a child her dad would play her his old vinyl albums, mixing rock, soul, gospel and Jazz. This education sewed a seed and created a desire to constantly investigate the past, be it in terms of music or in terms of her own heritage. “We used to spend Saturday afternoons going through his collection; Frank Zappa, Joan Armatrading, The Police, Aretha Franklin.
