I really appreciate this production.

Luke Vibert and Jeremy Simmonds' first collaboration, WEIRS, yields dark, dense techno tinged with industrial percussion and the occasional hint of melody, as on the opener, "Tinned Teardrop." "Path T'Zoar," on the other hand, throws in a heavy, distorted beat, and doesn't let up the rough treatment. Luckily the long and rippling "Reservoir" dispenses with the beat altogether (suggesting where Vibert's ambient PHAT LAB. NIGHTMARE album could have come from). "(This Can) Robotic" veers into electro territory, while "Indel Rooks" and "Aple" start off with modulated tribal percussion, though they end up in different places. "Thing Bounces Back" has a nice shuffle to its winding harmonic and acid lines, while "Submarine" ends the album on a frantic note. A strange but excellent release.

If u're into D James's GAK stuff u'll probably love this amazing album by Vibert. Timeless tracks from the highest level and anno 2005 still one of my favourite Rephlex albums. Quality analog trickery, original beats as well as gloomy ambient. This music has a (general) rudimentary sound I've never heard again on any other record. Very much recommended!

RIGHT-O! Don't forget to mention the one-off drum patterns which have never been approximated by any other producers of techno music. Only a great drummer/bass player could conceive of such intuitive drumbeat structures. Neither have I ever heard anything like this album. Truly a one-of-a-kind techno experience!
