Overall their most balanced album, with what they were and what they'd become.

Finally got a copy that wasn't beat up (with the exception of slight water damage on the back cover). I never thought it made sense to spend 20 plus dollars on a reissue when you can get the OG for around the same price. Spotty production (pun intended) as per usual with early SST releases, but still a killer album. The first pressing sounds good enough to my ears!
Thetath
Mine didn't have the lyrics on the inner sleeve, just a generic white one and the same lyrics on a separate smaller insert.

I have a US Vinyl copy of this album without barcode which came with a small SST booklet and order form. The booklet advertises Flip Your Wig and the Makes No Sense single so must have been a later release. Has anyone else heard of it?
Anayaron
What do you guys think is the best sounding vinyl version of this amazing album?
SupperDom
The original UK LP sounds much clearer and crisper than the original CD, which sounds very muffled and 1 dimensional in comparison. Like most Husker LPs they were recorded and mastered a bit too bright, but the LPs have a clarity and space that the CDs don't.EDIT: my copy is grossly off centre. Becomes noticeable to me towards the end of Celebrated Summer, and Perfect Example is practically unlistenable. Awful "seasick" changing in pitch. Side B is ok.

The original US press is the way to go -- I've had mine since it was released and just listened to it last night. It's got bass, it's got depth, it's got searing treble, and the drums punch the air. 32 years on and it still sounds that good. Avoid any later SST pressings of any releases, however, especially post-2000. They sound like Ginn used mp3s ripped from the crappy cds for masters. HORRIBLE.
Painbrand
All the releases of this record I've heard sound way too trebly/tinny. Its a masterpiece compositionally, but I'd love to see the masters re-worked and some of those lower ends brought out. If anyone know of a release that's done this, come at me
elegant stranger
Try cleaning the disc on a RCM (Moth, OkINoki or similar) as this chunks up the sound nicely!
Hellstaff
Worst recorded in the best possible way, you have to love how this album sounds. But, if you have a good vinyl set up, the original US smokes anything else.
Majin
none this is when they really started to suck ass
Endieyab
Come on...there must be one version that sounds better than the crappy CD release (:
sobolica
None of them, probably. One of the worst recorded records I have ever heard.
