A surprise playing this album for the first time because of the emotion it aroused when reading the translation as the payadores (Argentinian minstrels) sang. The LP in perfect condition I found at an antiquarian bookshop in Uralla, NSW, among a small lot of LPs in a store with thousands of books. The notes with the LP bring the story of these minstrels born from a desire among cattle herders called gauchos wanting freedom and liberty in the 1800s. In this recording three are heard doing what they commonly do in a store or wine shop - challenge each other to respond to a theme and improvise poetic songs at a moment's notice. Their poetry is moving, let me tll you.
